Business grants for EV charger installation.
Your business may be eligible for an EV infrastructure grant. As a SME, there are two government grants for electric car charging points for business that may be available to you.
You could get up to £14,000 towards the upfront cost of up to 40 EV charger installations with the Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS).
Alternatively, you could get up to £15,000 towards the cost of EV charger installations and supporting parking space infrastructure from the electric vehicle infrastructure grant for staff and fleets.
These grants can be claimed for the same business premises, but money cannot be claimed from both grants for the same charge point. To qualify for either grant the EV chargers cannot be for customer use, but they can be used by staff or the business.
Please be aware that eligibility criteria will apply, and you may require landlord’s permission if you don’t own the business premises.
Are there any EV charger grants for landlords of commercial properties?
If you are the landlord of a commercial property and would like to install EV charging, you can get support from the electric vehicle chargepoint and infrastructure grants for landlords.
With the EV chargepoint grant you could get £350 towards the cost of installing an EV charging socket, or 75% off, whichever is lower. Each financial year, you can receive this grant up to 200 times for residential properties, and up to 100 times for commercial properties. The grant can be used to install multiple charge points at a single property, or across multiple properties.
The EV infrastructure grant could provide up to £30,000 or 75% off to help cover the costs of the EV charging infrastructure required for multiple charge points (such as posts and wiring). You can receive the grant up to 30 times per financial year, but they must each be used on different properties. Please note that eligibility criteria will apply.
