A new connection is when:

  • You've had your cables or pipes installed.

  • Need your first ever electricity and/or gas meter installed.

  • And you've never had a supplier previously.

What do you need for a new electricity and/or gas connection?

  • MPAN (Meter Point Administration Number) and or MPRN (Meter Point Reference Number) - please contact your network operator to obtain this.

  • Type of meter you need - your local distribution company/network operator will provide this.

  • Confirmation the site is ready and any works (cables, fuses, pipes) have been completed by your local distribution company/network operator.

  • Your address is registered with Royal Mail.

  • Your contact details.

  • Photos showing your meter(s) location.

  • Your Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) - how much energy you estimate you might use in a year.

What is the new connection process?

New connections are not as complicated as they may seem. We’ll support you from very first contact until your first bill.

From your first contact with us through to your meter installation we anticipate it will take between 4 to 6 weeks.

We will strive to confirm an earlier appointment, however it will depend on the availability of our technicians. Throughout the entire process you will be supported and in touch with your Energy Specialist, who is there in order to make everything smoother and easier for you.

  1. Firstly we need to have all of the information from you. (You can see our checklist with the information above).

  2. If you are choosing us as your energy provider company, then we will create an account for you in our system and register your supply with us. Before registration we agree on the prices, and if you’re happy with the prices then we agree on a contract. After that we register the supply in our system.

  3. Once the registration is accepted, which usually takes a few working days, we can then look for the next available appointment.

  4. Once the site is ready we can book the meter installation appointment. We aim to install your meter in 4-6 weeks.

  5. Your meter installation. Our technician will get your new meter connected and check that everything is working fine.
