Refer a Friend Scheme terms and conditions.
These terms and conditions govern receiving and redeeming rewards under Our Refer a Friend Scheme (the “T&Cs”), and are separate to the full terms and conditions of the Energy supply tariff you have with Us. These T&Cs are applicable to the Referrer and the Referee who wish to participate in Our Refer a Friend Scheme.
Definitions.
“E.ON Next” means E.ON Next Energy Limited (registered number 03782443) with its registered office at Westwood Way, Westwood Business Park, Coventry, United Kingdom, CV4 8LG (“We”, “Us”, “Our”);
“Energy” means supply of gas and/or electricity;
“Offer” means a Reward available to the Referrer and the Referee for a Successful Referral, subject to the T and Cs;
“Partner Terms” means Mention Me: https://mention-me.com/help/tnc_f/site, Blackhawk Network EMEA Limited: https://eonnext.select-your-reward.co.uk/TermsAndConditions
“Referrer” means an existing customer of Us who meets the eligibility criteria set out in clause 2.1;
“Referee” means the Referee’s family member or a friend who meets the eligibility criteria set out in clause 2.2;
“Referral Link” means a URL or NameShare that is unique to the Referrer;
“Reward” means a £50 voucher issued or a credit towards your Energy account with Us; and
“Successful Referral” means switch by the Referee to Us as their Energy supplier by using the Referral Link, which: (i) has been initiated via the Referral Link; and (ii) is not cancelled within 14 days cooling off period; and (iii) has not failed to complete for any reason; and (iv) where eligibility criteria in clause 2 has been satisfied.
1. The Offer
We are offering a Reward to each eligible Referrer and Referee for a Successful Referral under Our Refer a Friend Scheme. The Offer and Rewards are subject to these T&Cs, the Partner Terms and exclusions and limitations set out in clause 5 below. The Reward may be subject to change at any time and may vary by campaign at Our absolute discretion. We may withdraw the Offer at any time at Our absolute discretion. Any Successful Referrals made before the withdrawal of the Offer will be honoured. Our latest Offer amount can be found on the Referrer online Energy account with Us or by clicking the Referral Link.
2. Reward eligibility
2.1 To qualify for the Reward, the Referrer must:
a) be supplied by Us at the time of the Offer;
b) be the account holder for the Energy supply with Us;
c) have a valid and up to date email address registered on the Energy account with Us which must be used to sign up for the Refer a Friend Scheme;
d) have signed up for the Refer a Friend Scheme to refer a friend or a family member who must use it to complete a Successful Referral; and
e) be over 18 years of age.
2.2 To qualify for the Reward, the Referee must:
a) not be an existing customer for supply of Energy from Us;
b) have received a Referral Link which was used to take out an Energy tariff with Us and initiate the switching process;
c) have completed a Successful Referral;
d) have a valid and up to date email address registered on the Energy account with Us following the switch which is the same as the email address to which the Referral Link was sent; and
e) be over 18 years of age.
3. How the Offer works
3.1 Each eligible Referrer who opts in to participate in the Offer will receive a Referral Link which can be shared with eligible Referee(s).
3.2 The Referee who receives a Referral from a Referrer must use the Referral Link to sign up for the Offer. Failing to do so will result in no Reward being paid to either the Referrer or the Referee even if the Energy supply is subsequently switched to Us.
3.3 To register for the Offer, both the Referrer and the Referee must register their details with Mention Me, Our Partner who will issue and administer the Referral Link, by using the same email address as registered on their Energy account with Us.
3.4 If the Referee cancels the switch, or the transfer of supply cannot be completed for any reason, neither the Referrer nor the Referee will receive the Reward for that switch.
3.5 Rewards will be made available to the Referrer and the Referee once the Referee’s Energy supply is live with Us and their first month's Direct Debit has been successful. This is usually within 4 weeks from the switch being initiated.
3.6 Once the conditions set out in clause 3.5 are satisfied the Referrer and the Referee will receive:
a) A reward code to exchange for a high street voucher sent to their email address registered with Us; or
b) a credit on their Energy account with Us.
Once the Referee’s Energy is supplied by Us, they will be able to participate in the Refer a Friend Scheme as a Referrer and will receive their own Referral Link.
4. Your Obligations
4.1 You must comply with the T&Cs to qualify for the Offer and receive a Reward.
4.2 When sharing the Referral Link you must not claim to represent Us.
4.3 You must not pay for advertising of your Referral Link across social media platforms or search engines.
4.4 You must not share your Referral Link on any review websites or community platforms. For example, you cannot post to Trustpilot including your Referral Link as part of your review.
4.5 If We have reason to believe you are sending or advertising your Referral Link to people who are not known to you or if you are in any way trying to benefit from Our Refer a Friend scheme on a commercial basis rather than for personal use, you won't be eligible for any Rewards, and We reserve the right to deactivate your Referral Link.
4.6 If We suspect that you are in breach of any of these Terms, We reserve the right, at Our absolute discretion, to suspend or remove you from the Refer a Friend Scheme at any point.
4.7 You must agree to, and comply with, the Partner Terms (this can be checked on the links above) in order to register for the link and receive the voucher. If you fail to do so, you may not be able to claim your Reward even if you meet the eligibility criteria.
5. Exclusions and limitation
5.1 Both the Referee and the Referrer will only receive one Reward each per Referee regardless of how many Successful Referrals are completed by the same Referee. For example, if the Referee switches multiple properties or multiple fuels for the same property through a Referral Link, both the Referee and the Referrer will only receive one Reward each.
5.2 The Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer, cashback or discount that We have live at the time of sign up.
5.3 Referrer Rewards will be cumulative and so if multiple qualifying referrals are made to Us, multiple rewards will be delivered to the Referrer, subject to the following limits:
a) not more than 5 Rewards within any 24 hour period; or
b) 25 Rewards within consecutive 12 months: or
c) £1,500 worth of Rewards within consecutive12 months.
5.4 A Referrer should not expect their Referees to be given Rewards if they are referring more frequently than 10 friends within any 24 hour period. Referee may not be eligible and at Our absolute discretion, if We have reasons to believe that the Refer a Friend Scheme is being abused.
5.5 If the limits in clause 5.3 are exceeded the Reward may not be given, at Our absolute discretion, to the Referrer and those Referees who signed up after the limits were exceeded.
5.6 Any Energy switches initiated through other methods, such as a price comparison website or over the phone will not be qualified as a Successful Referral.
5.7 If you are on a fixed term tariff with Us, you will not be eligible to withdraw the Reward from your account as cash within the term of your fixed tariff term (including where you decide to change supplier earlier than your tariff end date).
5.8 If you pay by Direct Debit and ask us to refund any credit balance you have built up on your account back to you, the Reward credit will be excluded from any refund within your fixed tariff term.
5.9 Your reward code is valid for 12 months and can be redeemed in one of the available retailer outlets. There will be no cash or credit equivalent given for failure to redeem the voucher within its validity period. Stock availability and terms of the retailer apply for which We accept no responsibility.
5.10 Once redeemed, the voucher is subject to the expiry terms and conditions set by the issuing retailer. Please refer to the specific retailer’s terms and conditions for full details on voucher validity, usage limitations, and expiry.
5.11 The Reward cannot be claimed if a Referrer and a Referee are the same person and used the Referral Link to switch their own properties.
6. Our Liability
6.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, We shall have no liability to you in contract, tort (including negligence) or otherwise for any loss, injury or damage of whatever kind caused in whole or in part by participation in Refer a Friend Scheme, or by your failure to perform any of their obligations under the T and Cs.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Our liability for any death or personal injury caused by Our negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that the law does not allow Us to exclude or limit.
7. Privacy Policy
7.1 Your privacy and personal information are important to Us. Any personal information that you provide to Us will be dealt with in line with Our Privacy Policy available at eonenergy.com/privacy which explains what personal information We collect from you, how and why We collect, store, use and share such information, your rights in relation to your personal information and how to contact Us and supervisory authorities in the event you have a query or complaint about the use of your personal information.
7.2 Our partners will process your personal data in accordance with their own privacy policy which will be made available to you when you register your details with them to participate in the Refer a Friend Scheme.
8. Other Terms
8.1 We will not be liable to you for any delay or failure to perform any obligation under this agreement to the extent that it results from circumstances beyond Our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disaster, fire, inevitable accident, terrorism, insurrection, war, pandemic or associated quarantine restrictions, sanctions or similar government restriction or prohibition ("Force Majeure Event"). The following shall not be considered as a Force Majeure Event: delay or failure by any Our subcontractors or suppliers except where such delay or failure is itself caused by a Force Majeure Event. In the event of such delay, We will use reasonable endeavours to notify you as soon as reasonably practicable if your access to the Refer a Friend Scheme will be terminated.
8.2 No one other than Us or you has any right to enforce any of these Term.
8.3 These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
8.4 Our Refer a Friend Scheme is delivered by Our partners on Our behalf: Mention Me Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 08382730) with its registered office at [20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU ], who issue and administer the Referral Links and reward codes, and Blackhawk Network EMEA Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 4155659) with it registered office at [Westside, London Road, Hemel Hempstead, Herts HP3 9TD ] who manage the redemption site (eonnext.select-your-reward.co.uk) and issue high street vouchers.
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of England and Wales and are subject to exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
